Serve Your Campus: Dig In at the Smith Garden!

Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 from 2:15pm to 3:30pm (PT)

About

Join PSU's Student Sustainability Center and the Student Community Engagement Center to volunteer your time and energies on a "Serve Your Campus" project!

Help care for the Smith Garden spaces. We will remove litter and weeds, amend soils, and help prep the garden beds, which will begin growing food donations for the PSU Food Pantry come spring! A variety of different tasks will be available.

Please remember to:
  • wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty
  • bring a water bottle to stay hydrated
  • wear closed-toed shoes for safety
We will provide tools and gloves, and will wrap up the work party by about 3:30pm. Most areas within the Smith Gardens are wheelchair accessible and all are welcome to come help out.

This project is open to all Portland State University students through the Student Community Engagement Center's #serveyourcityserveyourcampus program.

Note: This service project will take place right after the "Everyday for Everyone: Sustainable Development Goals Workshop" featuring guest speaker Neeraja Havaligi. Neeraja is the Executive Director of the Greater Portland Sustainability Education Network (GPSEN), which is a Regional Center of Expertise in Education for Sustainable Development through United Nations University. Neeraja will also join us for the work party to dig in and serve alongside us! If you're interested in attending the 12-2pm workshop prior to the service project, please get your ticket here

The Student Sustainability Center empowers all students to be keepers of an interdependent, healthy, regenerative world and strives to be an accessible hub that integrates sustainability with the student experience through transformational learning opportunities.
