About
Abigayle Kraus, University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine
Kraus aims to complete a qualitative needs assessment of current UAB patients with peripartum cardiomyopathy and to develop patient education regarding living with heart disease in pregnancy. Kraus’ project is in conjunction with a quantitative, retrospective analysis of the needs of women with peripartum cardiomyopathy at UAB from 2000 - 2018. Data collected in her project will be used in a grant submission to establish a patient navigator program at UAB for women with peripartum cardiomyopathy. Her hope is this project will be a small step forward in a much larger goal, reducing maternal mortality in Alabama.
