Volunteer Opportunities in May

Last date was Tuesday, May 31st, 2022 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm (CT)

About

Volunteers like you are essential to our vision of an Oklahoma where no one goes hungry.

Through this on-site volunteer experience, volunteers like you sort, pack and prepare food for a variety of Regional Food Bank Programs. Activities may include:

  • Assembling sacks of nutritious food for the Food for Kids Backpack Program
  • Packing Commodity Supplemental Food Program boxes full of food for seniors living on fixed incomes
  • Sorting and packing bread, produce, package meals and/or cans
  • Tagging bags
  • Cleaning

Because the Regional Food Bank's inventory changes daily, the Regional Food Bank cannot guarantee volunteers who sign up to work in the Volunteer Center will pack and prepare food for a specific program.

The minimum age requirement is 8 years. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

As a reminder, volunteers will enter through the Volunteer Center entrance, not the main entrance. Please look for the double doors toward the north end of the building with the Volunteer Center sign on the building.

Please email Zoë Davis at volunteer@rfbo.org for any questions.

COVID-19 Protocols:

The organization is monitoring the current state of COVID-19 cases in Oklahoma County. We use
this data to determine our COVID-19 safety protocols for volunteers and staff.

At any point, the Regional Food Bank may increase or decrease volunteer capacities and restrictions to follow the organization’s COVID-19 safety protocols. This could result in the cancellation of volunteer registrations. If shifts decrease in capacity, volunteers will be notified by email.

Mask Guidelines

Masks are not currently required.

To determine the direction of our masking requirements, we will continue to follow CDC guidelines which identify levels of risk based on a combination of new cases as well as COVID-19 hospitalizations in Oklahoma County.

SENIOR PANTRY FOOD DRIVE OPPORTUNITY!

Through April and May the Regional Food Bank is asking for your help in stocking senior pantries by participating in the Senior Pantry Food Drive.

We are encouraging groups and individuals to bring a Senior Pantry Pack(s) to their volunteer shift.

The senior pantries give residents monthly access to a fully stocked client-choice food pantry within their building, eliminating transportation barriers for older clients who are often disabled or have limited mobility. Senior pantries are tailored to the nutritional needs and food preferences of seniors living in smaller households, featuring easy-open packaging, smaller portions, foods that are simple to prepare and senior specific toiletry items. You can directly support this effort by donating a Senior Pantry Pack of nonperishable items in any sack or box when you come to volunteer.

Donations can be placed in the blue bins inside the Volunteer Center entrance.
