Dougherty Arts Center

About

The Dougherty Arts Center (DAC) is an award-winning cultural arts center that offers a variety of visual, performing and digital arts experiences for a broad audience through its three programming components- the Dougherty Arts Center Theater, the Julia C. Butridge Gallery and the Dougherty Arts School. The Dougherty Arts Center is a converted Naval Reserve Station. Built in 1947, the Reserve Station was deeded to the City of Austin in 1978 and named for Mary Ireland Graves Dougherty, a local advocate for the arts.

In addition, the DAC also manages the Beverly Sheffield Zilker Hillside Theater, located in the heart of Zilker Park. Zilker Hillside Theater has been home to engaging events, shows and concerts for over 50 years. All performances are free and open to the public.
