|Event Description||Friendship Bridging Generations is a social support program aimed to increase social participation and improve quality of life in the residents of Katherine’s Place skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. The program will be structured by one-on-one pairing of residents and volunteers. Friendship Bridging Generations will take place once weekly for 6 weeks. Consistent attendance is crucial in order to ensure a positive and reliable relationship between the resident and volunteer. Friendship Bridging Generations will be a very laid back and fun program to participate in! |
Participation in the Friendship Bridging Generations program will be virtual via facetime, phone calls, etc., to ensure adherence to the COVID-19 current restrictions. Specific instructions for virtual service delivery will be provided during the volunteer orientation. All volunteers will be asked to attend a virtual orientation prior to program participation.
The program will begin on Wednesday, June 10th from 10-11am and continue to take place each Wednesday from 10-11am until July 15th. Times are subject to change depending on availability to connect on a virtual platform.
This volunteer experience is approximately 10-15 hours in total.
Developed by an occupational therapy doctoral student, this program is created to target the social isolation and occupational deprivation that is often present in nursing homes. This volunteer experience would be great for any student in the healthcare field.
******Mode of service delivery is subject to change based upon COVID-19 restriction guidelines******
