I worked with a local nonprofit called Feed the Mass, that provides food stability resources, as well as nutrition education for no/low cost to children and families in low income areas around Portland. Over my time working with Feed the Mass, I have worked to reach out to, and organize with businesses in and around portland to donate items to the organization. Things like bread from bakeries, vegetables from supermarkets, pastries from coffee shops, etc. all food items that are perfectly good, but that would otherwise be thrown away. I arranged for these to be donated to Feed the Mass and worked with the group to distribute these items to families in need at different distribution sites around the city.

My actual time donation is significantly larger than the stated 30 hours with this organization especially if I include time spent planning activities and shopping for supplies and food, as well as actual time at the shelter. But I don't want to throw the group hours tracking mechanism here out-of-whack so Im only adding a few. I volunteer with my church at a women's and children's shelter every month or two to cook dinner for individuals there, and organize/lead art projects for the kids. Each evening is a 5-6 hour commitment, and has been a very rewarding experience. I can't imagine what it would have been like to go through some of the things these women have, or be trying to take care of a child/children as well. This is a particularly underserved population as general shelters are often not safe for them, and it can be very difficult to find the support they need. I love doing crafts with the kids too as outside of our time there, I'm not sure they have much exposure to arts and crafts. Surprisingly their mothers seem to enjoy the projects as much as they do.
