Pathway: Health Equity

About

This pathway was created to address health inequities. The 6 initiatives in this pathway are HOPES Free Clinic, Environmental Health Research, Street Health,  WeCare 757 Clinic, Mother and Baby Mermaids, and many others.

HOPES Free Clinic is a student-run free clinic which provides long-term primary and specialty care to uninsured Norfolk & Portsmouth residents.

Environmental Health Research focuses on conducting research projects on environmental and occupational health in areas including water quality, air quality, and ergonomics in order to identify and address health disparities.

Street Health focuses on providing basic health screenings, referrals for follow-up care, meal services, and social support for Norfolk's unsheltered homeless through partnership with local faith-based organizations.

WeCare 757 Clinic is a Pop-up Clinic (named after our local area code) into the community center within the public housing community.

Mother and Baby Mermaids focuses on providing support to expectant at-risk mothers throughout pregnancy and the antenatal period by offering social support, advocacy during pregnancy-related healthcare visits, and pregnancy-related health education.

For more information on these initiatives, see their individual pages under "Subgroups".
