Get involved in the new HOLLA School! In 2022, HOLLA launched a culturally responsive public charter school in East Portland centering youth of color. Our mission is to change the academic narrative of Black, Brown and Indigenous youth.
What: Internship roles may vary and could include some of the following roles:
- Supporting students with literacy and language through storytelling and reading
- Helping organize and label HOLLA School materials such as tech and books
- Supporting to supervise and mentor during lunch and recess from 11am-12pm
- Supporting classroom activities
- Other activities yet to be determined
Students will be mentored/supported by our teachers and staff on site and collaborate with our classroom mentors. There will be opportunities for students to have flexibility and ownership within project as well.
HOLLA School deeply values our local educators and community partners. HOLLA School will prioritize hiring staff reflective of our student demographics while simultaneously creating an environment and community reflective of their lived experiences and culture. HOLLA School seeks partners and interns to participate with students to explore identities, nurture their curiosity, ignite their criticality and orient them in the world. We are relational and want to partner with folks to show up relationally alongside our students in the classroom.
This is an in-person position. No remote option available.
Skills and Knowledge Required: Experience working in multicultural setting with diverse student populations, consistency, collaboration, and commitment to equity are important to the role.
Preferred Qualifications: Bi-lingual and BIPOC candidates encouraged.
Orientation and Training: The schedule is not yet set, but as much of the teacher/mentor professional development and or orientation that the SLS member is able to attend in August would be ideal. Otherwise additional orientation specific to the role will be provided.

Location & Transportation: HOLLA School is located at 14513 SE Stark Portland, OR 97089. This location is accessible by Tri-Met bus line #20 with a stop right out front of the building.
Time Commitment & Schedule Available: Flexible hours during school days: M-F 8:30am - 2:30pm. Ideally available during lunch/recess 11am-12pm.
