About
Join PSU's Student Community Engagement Center to volunteer your time learning about sustainable farming practices and getting out in nature while giving back to the local community.
Kindness Farm's mission is to create community and generate conversation surrounding equitable access to produce, land cultivation, and provide education on growing food. All food grown on the farm is donated to local food banks and community organizations.
Kindness Farm's mission is to create community and generate conversation surrounding equitable access to produce, land cultivation, and provide education on growing food. All food grown on the farm is donated to local food banks and community organizations.
For this project, volunteers will be doing a variety of activities, all of which are needed to grow organic food in a farm setting. Typically, these will include: weeding, spreading compost/woodchips, composting, digging, planting, watering, transplanting, harvesting, and pruning to help maintain the farm's infrastructure.
What to bring: Volunteers should plan to bring (or wear) outdoor/gardening gear per the weather, and a water bottle. Gloves and tools will be provided on-site.
Where to meet: We will meet in the lobby of SMSU and carpool together to the farm! If you would like to ride separately, please indicate so when registering.
This project is open to all Portland State University students through the Student Community Engagement Center's #serveyourcityserveyourcampus program.
